Sustainable fisheries symposium

2 November 2009

Sixteen fisheries research projects were discussed at the Western Australian Marine Science Institution's Sustainable Marine Ecosystems symposium today.

Held at the Department of Fisheries' research centre in Hillarys, Perth, the symposium discussed the effects of climate change on ecosystems and marine species, including the western rock lobster.

Speakers provided preliminary findings on food webs, models for future fishing options, estuary management,  fish dietary habits, bycatches, social implications and the health of the Swan, Peel-Harvey and Leschenault estuaries.

Attached are the power point presentations of each speaker.
