Increased populations, water runoff, changed ocean temperatures, fishing, larvae dispersion and climate change came under the spotlight at a Western Australian Marine Science Institution symposium in Perth.

Data management symposium

27 October 2009

The third marine data management symposium was held at Technology Park, in Kensington, Perth, to a full house.

The day focussed on the demonstration of projects and the latest initiatives.

Keynote speakers were Matthew Bellgard, Director of the Centre for Comparative Genomics, and Dr John Hedland from the University of Exeter.

Oceanographic research symposium

The Western Australian Marine Science Institution held its first oceanographic research symposium today.

It was attended by more than 100 people from industry, government agencies and academia.

Third Annual Ningaloo Research Symposium

The Western Australian Marine Science Institution sponsors its Ningaloo Marine Park research through annual symposia. This year's event at Exmouth was preceeded by a Ningaloo research day for postgraduate students.

 

 

A changing climate: WA in focus

A climate change symposium coordinated by WAMSI was held on 27 March 2009.

Entitled A changing climate: Western Australia in focus, it attracted 360 delegates.
