An aerial survey of remote Kimberley reefs, Talbot Bay, WA, was undertaken in September 2010. Research was coordinated by WAMSI and the flight was undertaken by Airborne Research Australia.

Kimberley research high priority

Independent scientific studies in the beautiful and remote Kimberley marine region have been identified as a priority by the Western Australian Marine Science Institution’s Board.

The Kimberley is a region of intense natural beauty where few formal, long-term marine baseline studies have been instigated.

Kimberley Marine and Coastal Science Symposium

The first Kimberley Coast and offshore region's symposium, the Kimberley Marine and Coastal Science Symposium, will be held in May next year.

The Royal Society of Western Australia (RSWA) and the Western Australian Marine Science Institution (WAMSI) are jointly hosting the event.

Research Kimberley

In late August and early September 2009, Channel 7 television identity Ernie Dingo joined forces with WAMSI scientists and the Aboriginal Traditional Owner [Arraluli Aboriginal Corporation] from the eastern part of Camden Sound and Montgomery Reef, in the Kimberley.
