PhD Scholarship, Evaluation of Environmental Assessment using Airborne Sensing Technology

Applications are invited for an attractively supported PhD scholarship that will use historical and current field data together with high spatial resolution airborne hyperspectral imagery, multispectral imagery, terrain and vegetation mapping LIDAR and high resolution digital photography to investigate the distribution and condition of vegetation cover on a coastal site managed by the Port Hedland Port Authority. The aims of the research include assessing the ability of these high technology approaches to provide a quantitative, diagnostic and beneficial level of environmental monitoring particularly in classifying land cover, producing land cover maps and assessing vegetation condition.
