WAMSI currently has two major programs currently underway, the Kimberley Marine Research Program Node and the Dredging Science Program Node:

Kimberley Marine Research Program Node

This research will focus on:

  • Providing scientific data required to support the effective management of the proposed State marine parks (Camden Sound, North Kimberley, Roebuck Bay and Eighty Mile Beach) and the coastal waters outside of these parks, as well as to gain a better understanding of and managing current human impacts; and
  • Understanding the key ecosystem processes of the region and their response to a range of potential human impacts, including climate change.
