Based at their new premises in the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre, WAMSI HQ oversees financial and science planning and provides full administration support for the WAMSI Board, committees and sub-committees. It coordinates collaboration and research activities, legal and financial management, data management and storage, research assessments, communication, conferences and symposia.
Naomi Brown (Chair) Naomi Brown joined WAMSI as Chair of the Board in 2013, and will be retiring as of 31 December 2017.
Peter Millington will be the incoming Chair as of 1 January 2018.
Dr Luke Twomey (CEO) Commenced in June 2017 to oversee the completion of the current WAMSI science programs, including the $30 million Kimberley Marine Research Program and the landmark $19 million Dredging Science partnership, as well as drive planning for the long-term future of WAMSI.
Trish Wells (Personal Assistant) is the Personal Assistant to Dr Luke Twomey and supports the administration of WAMSI. Trish commenced with WAMSI in June 2013.
Linda McGowan (Business Manager) is responsible for the day to day running of WAMSI and provides the management of the financial, legal and administrative operations of the Institution’s headquarters and research programs. She is Executive Secretary to the Governing Board. Linda joined WAMSI in January 2008.
Dr Caroline Ochieng-Erftemeijer (Research Manager) Commenced in June 2017 to work on continuing to roll out Western Australia’s Blueprint for Marine Science 2050 science priorities for decision-makers to help align the research sectors’ response and establish a foundation of willingness across multiple sectors to find ways to be more strategic and more collaborative in marine science.
